- Recognizing that there are no short term solutions to youth homelessness, our long term programs target potential early leavers from the educational system and support them to stay in school
- Both 8-bed facilities, these programs offer long term housing to youth who are committed to getting their high school diploma
- The programs engage youth to take control of their own lives and offer the support and services needed to ensure that youth can make informed decisions
- These programs offer innovative programs to teach and surround youth with opportunities
- Each resident is provided with valuable case management
Y.E.S.: Youth Emergency Shelter

- Although youth-specific shelters are not the answer to addressing youth homelessness, they are an essential access point where young people can obtain the support they need to stabilize their housing situation and attain basic needs
- The 8 bed emergency youth shelter located at 18 Norwich St., is often the first stop for youth who become homeless in our community
- This program takes an innovative approach, tailored to the individual youth's needs and meets the youth where they are at
- The shelter offers life skills training, recreational activities, supportive guidance, and community referrals to the youth staying at the shelter
Youth Resource Centre

- A "one stop" shop designed specifically for youth, to ensure that they receive barrier-free access to the services youth need in our community
- This central access point supports youth in attaining identification, access to food, clothes, outreach workers, affordable housing listings, and other supports needed
Skills Development Program
- Discovering what it takes to make significant life changes is an intimidating factor for most; add homelessness into the equation and it can feel almost impossible. Wyndham House's Skills Development program is there to assist youth in developing the essential life skills needed to become fully successful independent member of our community and support them to make positive life choices
- The skills development worker in conjunction with the youth to identify; areas of strength and of challenge
- The end result is a customized supportive plan devoted to the success of the particular young person
Aftercare Program

- The Aftercare Initiative is a natural extension of the residential programs and an even further extension of the continuum of care that we provide to youth
- This outreach program has proven to be an effective way to reach youth who have exited any of our programs and may be unfamiliar with the services available to them or those youth who feel they would be stigmatized accessing them
- Provides 1:1 non-judgmental support in areas such as continued life skills development, landlord / tenant advocacy, and connection to a range of services and supports that are key to helping youth maintain their housing
