Programs

Wyndham House operates two cooperative living residences, one for young men at 51 Bellevue Street, Guelph, Ontario and the other for young women, at 74 Suffolk Street West, Guelph, Ontario. Each is staffed 24 hours a day and each has room for seven residents.

Wyndham House operates two programs at each house, a Long Term Resident Program and an Emergency Bed program.

Long Term Resident Program
  • The focus of this program is education. Long term residents must be enrolled in and regularly attending school. Attendance is checked weekly and privileges for the weekend are based on whether the resident has fulfilled his or her responsibilities to school and to Wyndham House.
  • Staff teach lifeskills such as budgeting, menu planning and grocery shopping. Household tasks such as dishes and house cleaning are divided equally and rotate regularly among those living at Wyndham House. We aim to give residents the skills they will need to live a successful independent life when they choose to leave Wyndham House.
  • Staff role model and teach conflict resolution skills, respectful communication and anger management, as well as providing emotional support.
  • Counselling for personal issues can be arranged by staff.
